In French, 432pp., 4to, fully illus.in colour. 2010. This book has
been long in anticipation so was it worth the wait? More than. I simply
cannot imagine any Napoleonic enthusiast not having a copy
.
This
elegant, beautifully photographed book studies the significant items
of the Napoleonic collection at Les Invalides, beginning with costumes
& weapons worn or owned by the Emperor, moving on to the marshals
and significant generals, then producing magnificent item after item
of costume & swords worn by soldiers of the French army. If you
love military uniforms you simply have to have this book; if you love
fine edged weapons there is enough here to justify the price, even for
firearms enthusiasts there are many beautiful items illustrated. It
is one of those books which will be constantly by your side and it is
impossible to praise it highly enough. £90.00
