FOR UNIFORM ENTHUSIASTS, COLLECTORS OF FIREARMS AND OF EDGED WEAPONS
GALE (R.) "A SOLDIER-LIKE WAY" THE MATERIAL CULTURE OF THE
BRITISH INFANTRY 1751-1768". 135pp., landscape 4to, fully illus.in
colour, P.B. 2007.

Amazingly good publication dealing with the uniforms and equipment of
the British Army. For the uniforms the main feature is the complete set
of David Morier's colour paintings of Infantry Grenadiers, beautifully
reproduced as full pages. As well as this, original firearms, edged weapons,
accoutrements and personal effects are photographed in superb quality.
The text is extracts from original soldier memoirs and accounts. In all
this is an essential book for anyone interested in the uniforms or arms
of the period
